CLWSC WAKEBOARD SCORING, TRICKS, AND DIVISION CHART

Subjectivity:

Wakeboarding is a subjective sport and subjective sports can be difficult to judge fairly. The components of judging wakeboarding are: how hard is the trick to perform (trick value), and how clean, how big, how smooth were the tricks performed (style points.) Trick values are based on difficulty along with points for style and execution of each trick and the trick pass. Based on all these factors, the Chief Judge’s decision is final.

Format:

Your ability level and the tricks you are capable of performing will determine your division. The trick list is broken down to show tricks available for each division. Any competitor can be bumped to a higher division if the judges determine a rider is not riding in the appropriate division. Tricks must be in the tricks chart below or approved by the chief judge prior to riding. All divisions will be given two (2) passes through the course to perform 12 tricks (6 per pass). Outlaw Riders can perform no more than 10 tricks (5 per pass). Riders will be scored on a designated attack sheet. Intermediate through Outlaw runs are in an expression format. Points completed from trick runs plus style points determine the Overall Score.

Minis:

New and beginner riders, 8 years old and under. Same rules apply as Novice.

Junior, Men and Women Beginners and Novices:

New and beginner riders. Basic riding and surface tricks, 1-wake tricks, up to a basic heelside (H/S) 2 wake jump. Novice riders will mark 8 tricks instead of 6 to allow them to adjust their run during competition. The judge will only score the first 6 tricks completed and the other 2 will receive no credit. If a novice rider attempts a trick and does not complete the trick or falls, they will be allowed to try another trick from the remaining tricks that are marked on their attack sheet, and receive credit.   No variations, (such as grabs) of these tricks will be counted. Tricks may be done on both passes, but not repeated in the same pass.

Seniors:
This division is for the 40 year and over competitors with Novice and Intermediate tricks. Intermediate rules will apply except there will be no credit given for inverts or 360 spins in this division. Any 40 and over competitor wishing to receive credit for inverts and/or 360 spins should ride Masters or Advanced division. Veteran riders may receive up to 400 total style points.

Junior, Men’s, and Women’s intermediate:

The Intermediate divisions are intended for mid-level riders with primarily 2 wake jumps, grabs, 180¹s, half-cab¹s, and basic 2 wake tricks. Intermediate riders may also be working on their first basic invert or 360 spin. Intermediate riders can do any trick on the CLWSC Novice and Intermediate Trick Lists. Intermediate tricks must be landed with their leading foot across the crest of the second wake to receive full point credit for the trick. Intermediate tricks landed 1-wake or with their leading foot NOT over the crest of the second wake, will be considered and scored as a 1-wake trick. Intermediate tricks performed 1-wake will receive 1/2 of the listed point value unless the 1 wake trick value is listed.

Intermediate riders can perform tricks off the Advanced trick list with the following guidelines: Only one (1) invert and two (2) 360’s total, not per pass are allowed. If the invert and/or 360’s are completed, the rider will be scored no more than 625 points for
each trick. The Intermediate class is not designed for riders with a solid invert and multiple 360 variations. If the judges feel an Intermediate rider has a solid invert or multiple 360 variations, the rider will be bumped up to a higher division. Intermediate riders may receive up to 600 style points, riders can repeat tricks, but not in the same pass.

Thirtysomethings:

The thirtysomethings division is designed for 30 years old and over. Same rules as Intermediate.

Advanced 3:

The Advanced 3 division is intended for riders with 1-4 solid basic inverts/360¹s. Advanced riders must stay within the Intermediate and Advanced Trick List. The Advanced Trick List is any trick or trick variation that has a point value of 1250 points or less.  Advanced riders will only receive credit for 360 spins. Advanced riders will have the opportunity to receive credit for 3 inverts total.

Advanced riders may receive up to 1600 style points. Six tricks are allowed per pass, riders can repeat tricks, but not in the same pass. Any Advanced riders with 4 or more solid inverts, will be bumped to a higher division

Advanced 5:
The Advanced 5 division is intended for riders with 4-7 solid inverts. Expert riders are allowed to perform any tricks from the Intermediate Trick List and up. Any variation of a trick will be considered a different trick and credit will be given. The Expert riders will be allowed 5 inverts total. Spins do not count as inverts, and are not limited. Six tricks are allowed per pass, Expert riders cannot repeat tricks. Expert riders may receive up to 2000 style points.

 Semi-Pro:

This division is for Semi-Pro level riders. Semi-Pro riders can throw any trick on the CLWSC Trick List from Intermediate and up. Any variation of a trick will be counted as a different trick. Five tricks are allowed per pass, with no repeats. This is to allow more time for the rider to attempt more challenging tricks.  Semi-Pro riders that have a particular upper level trick that is rarely seen are encouraged to tell the judges in the boat to look for the trick. Semi-Pro riders may receive up to 3000 style points.

Call Judge in the boat has the right to make the decision on falls out of the course.
